GENERAL INFORMATION

Who can be nominated?

Any person residing in Kerala or residing in other parts of India or abroad who has worked on issues of concern to Kerala society can be proposed.
The Award is open to anyone irrespective of religion, caste, socio-economic background or political affiliation.
Individuals who are working in the government, public and private sector organizations, NGOs, universities and research institutions may be nominated.
Nominees should be around 50 years of age. However, the Selection Panel may consider persons above this age limit if warranted. (in exceptional cases)

When nominating a person for the 'Vakkom Moulavi Foundation Trust Professor N.A. Karim Award for Outstanding Public Service-2019’, consider whether he or she has contributed in one or more of the following:

Demonstrated leadership and innovation which have enhanced efficiency, transparency and effectiveness in the Government/Public/Private sector
Encouraged marginalized or under-represented sections of society to participate in and benefit from the development process
Integrated the communities of Kerala by actively promoting dialogue and understanding between different communities.
Inspired and influenced public servants and members of the society in avoiding corruption and promoting honesty, integrity, and accountability in public service.

3. Communal harmony is needed for economic development in a mutli-cultural state and country like Kerala and India. Please provide evidence or examples of how the nominee has actively promoted interactions and dialogue between different communities in a way that would eliminate misunderstandings, communalism and intolerance.
